The last sentence tells her to go to the town of Elk overlooking the Pacific Ocean in northern California where her misadventure unfolds.

Author’s Note

Twenty-seven years in the writing, this was my longest active novel in the making. I’d add a few dozen pages then get distracted in the writing of another story which would take a year or so. When I picked it back up I would have to reread previously written pages to bring myself up to speed with the storyline.

Finally, in 2024, with fifty pages to go, I sprinted to the surprise ending and published.
