Soapbox Derby

Bicycles in my truck

The first year of the Soap Box Derby here in Nevada City I couldn’t miss. It had been a childhood dream, but this one was for adults and we could get as wacky as we wanted. This was going to be fun.
So, I put out the word for dead bicycles and was able to round up 25, plenty of parts to create something wild. Piled in the back of my truck are a few of those rusted hulks.

Next step was to find a few that matched and strip them down to basics so I could see what kind of design I was going to make.

Since it weighed in at only 37 pounds I was able to hang it to the ceiling of my workshop. There it sits collecting dust.
