Author’s Note
Having lived in Nevada City, California since the early 1970’s, I experienced, second hand, a half dozen local guru led communities eventually find themselves in trouble mostly because the guru had been put on pedestals and treated like they could do no wrong. We are all human and prone to making mistakes, getting greedy and falling prey to our sexual desires. Guru’s are no different.
In India, where the guru is seen as a teacher, revered for his or her skill and knowledge, but the community also keeps a close eye on the guru’s actions, understanding that they are not gods, but human with human frailties and shadow.
This story started out as a scathing review about the creation of a guru by two marketing yahoos looking for a goose laying that golden egg. Once the hotsprings spirit comes on the scene the intent of this writing took an out of control turn and I never looked back.
Do our golden egg seeking couple find what they are looking for? Does our little guru attain nirvana? Answers to all this and so much more on the following pages.

Arjunta Marangle’s only ambition is to rise to the final level and become a Soccu master of the sixth circle, but he’s not there yet.

Susan Huxton is chasing more money than a guru has followers and she has a plan. With the help of Phill Underwood, top polyvinyl salesman three years running, the two traverse the slippery slope of talking Arjunta into joining them, then presenting the unsuspecting guru to an inquisitive public to build a brand.

It takes several years to develop a following for the little guru, but once the workshop money starts pouring in they can afford to expand. The two business partners purchase a run-down hot spring and the entire ashram moves to the wilds of the Nevada desert.
An unruly, invisible, ten-foot-tall satyr who lives at the springs befriends the enlightened but naive Arjunta and leads the guru along a path that creates more chaos than a nest of hornets.
